GUIDE FORM SPECIFICATIONS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The complete luminaire designated _______ (identify) shall be

a GE POWR/BRACKET

luminaire unit pack, ordering number

_______ (specify PBS or PBP, plus ordering number logic from

catalog) or approved equal, to operate one _______ (specify

[50, 70, 100, 150(55V), 200 or 250] watt high pressure sodium

[HPS] or [175, 250 or 400] watt mercury) lamp from a nominal

_______ (specify 120, 208, 240 or 277) volt, 60 Hertz power

source. The luminaire shall include an integral ballast and

_______ (specify according to product ordering information)

optical assembly including specified lamp, mounting hardware

and external photoelectric control. Labeling shall be in accor-

dance with ANSI standards. Standard construction is IP54.

SMALL OPTICAL (PBS)

The small optical assembly (175 watt maximum) shall include a

Type 5 _______ (specify open acrylic or enclosed polycarbonate

resin) one-piece prismatic refractor and spun-seal aluminum

reflector with an Alzak

finish on both the inside and outside

surfaces. It shall be equipped with stainless steel spring toggle

latches for attaching to the luminaire housing.

LARGE OPTICAL (PBL)

The large optical assembly shall be available with Type 5 open

acrylic refractor only.

MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION

The luminaire shall include a die-cast aluminum top housing

and removable die-cast door with electrocoat gray paint finish,

optical assembly, E39 mogul base socket with superior lamp

gripping and specified lamp, and mounting hardware includ-

ing corrosion resistant 2-3/8 X 3 inch lag screws and 5/8 X 10

inch lag bolts. The luminaire shall be prewired with two 3-foot

(9-meter) #14 AWG leads.

BALLAST OPERATION

The ballast shall be prewired to the socket and mounted on the

removable door, requiring connection of power supply leads to

wiring cables only. There shall be a plug-in type ignitor mount-

ed on the door for use with HPS lamps.

The luminaire shall contain a standard _______ (specify) type

ballast* in full compliance with lamp-ballast specifications

available to the fixture manufacturer from the lamp manufac-

turers at the time of fixture manufacture.

The ballast shall reliably start and operate the lamp in ambient

temperatures down to -20°F for mercury or -40°F for HPS.

The luminaire and ballast shall be from the same manufacturer.
