THE SITUATION
US Mat Systems, a company that produces mats for oil rigs and
drilling products, moved its manufacturing to Leavenworth, Washington,
and discovered the lighting in the 450,000-square-foot facility―a former
wood mill building―needed an upgrade to help ensure workers could
effi ciently do their jobs.
The facility needed a rugged fi xture that could withstand the tough
manufacturing process and emit a greater lumen output than the
current high intensity discharge (HID) lighting.
THE SOLUTION
With the help of Urban Energy Group, US Mat Systems found the ideal fi t
with GE’s Albeo
LED high bay lighting. In total, GE replaced 167 400-watt
metal halide fi xtures with 145 190-watt Albeo ABV1 LED Luminaires,
which increased the facility’s foot-candle (fc) levels from 10 fc to 30 fc.
GE’s high bay lighting added the durability and energy savings
US Mat Systems needed.

The new LED lighting is expected to reduce energy use by nearly 640,000
kilowatt hours (kWh) each year. Projected annual savings through the
reduction in energy use and maintenance needs is approximately $15,000.
